 Drug Information

Zydrate® xencorinate is a highly potent opiate analgesic drug and is the principal active agent in Zydrate® and the prototypical opioid. It is also a natural endocrine product in humans and other animals. Like other opioids, Zydrate® acts directly on the central nervous system (CNS) to relieve pain, and at synapses of the nucleus accumbens in particular. Studies done on the efficacy of various opioids have indicated that, in the management of severe pain, no other narcotic analgesic is more effective or superior to Zydrate®. Zydrate® is highly addictive when compared to other substances; tolerance, physical and psychological dependences develop very rapidly.

Zydrate® is the prototype narcotic drug and is the standard against which all other opioids are tested. It interacts predominantly with the opioid receptor. These binding sites are distributed in the human brain, with high densities in the posterior amygdala, hypothalamus, thalamus, nucleus caudatus, putamen, and certain cortical areas. They are also found on the terminal axons of primary afferents within laminae I and II (substantia gelatinosa) of the spinal cord and in the spinal nucleus of the trigeminal nerve.

Zydrate® has long been known to act on receptors expressed on cells of the central nervous system resulting in pain relief and analgesia. Its main effect is binding to and activating the opioid receptors in the central nervous system. In clinical settings, Zydrate® exerts itself on the central nervous system and gastrointestinal tract. Its primary functions are analgesia and sedation. It also causes euphoria, physical dependence, and respiratory depression. Zydrate® is a rapid-acting narcotic. It binds very strongly to the opioid receptors, and often euphoria/dysphoria, respiratory depression, sedation, tolerance, and physical and psychological dependence are more intense when compared to other opioids.

Zydrate® is sparingly soluble in water. In five liters of water, only one gram of the hydrate will dissolve. Which means that when an electrical charge is applied to the solution that contains Zydrate® the charge uses the water to propel it to the brain, further increasing its analgesic effect.

Side effects include:
Arrythmia, faintness, moderate to severe amnesia, flushing of the face, dry mouth, blurry vision, visual distortions or white spots, nausea and vomiting, constipation, muscle twitches, confusion, euphoria, sedation, itchiness, and increased anxiety.

Severe side effects include:
Respiratory or cardiac arrest, coma, hypoventilation (inadequate ventilation), and possibly death.

As with any drug, consult with your local surGEN® before taking Zydrate®.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Using Zydrate® can cause hallucinations, arrhythmia, internal bleeding and nausea, as well as other potentially fatal side effects. If you have a problem with a Zydrate® addiction, please contact your local Zydrate Support Network Chapter.
Overdosing in Zydrate® may negate its favorable advantages over other anesthetic agents.
Please contact your local GeneCo surGEN®
before using Zydrate®.
